Split Enz was a new wave band formed in New Zealand in 1972 by Tim Finn and Phil Judd. Tim wrote most of the band’s material, such as “Six Months In A Leaky Boat”. His brother Neil would later join and contribute songs as well, including their most successful single, “I Got You”. At the time of their “True Colours” album, the band consisted of the Finn Brothers, Noel Crombie, Malcolm Green, Nigel Griggs and Eddie Rayner.

Initially, the band’s success was mostly limited to New Zealand and Australia, the latter of which they moved to in 1974. “True Colours” would be their breakthrough album – not only did it top the charts in the two countries, but it also charted in the US and the UK. However, by the time of their next album, “Waiata”, divisions were growing within band members. In 1984, Tim Finn announced he would leave the band, and the remaining members released their final studio album, aptly titled, “See Ya ‘Round”.
