Nemo

Nemo Mettler (born August 3, 1999 in Biel, Switzerland), mononymously referred as Nemo, is a non-binary Swiss singer-songwriter and multi instrumentalist based in Berlin, Germany.

Nemo began their musical career as a rapper in 2015. In the three year span they have released three EPs, performed in Swiss-German: Clownfisch EP, Momänt-Kids and Fundbüro. In 2017, Nemo’s single “Du” achieved the number 4 spot on the Swiss charts. By the age of 17, Nemo has already won multiple national awards for their solo work.

In 2020, Nemo started producing and writing songs for other artists, at the same time they have begun releasing songs in English. The single, “Dance With Me,” released on August 14, 2020, marked Nemo’s English debut. Nemo also separated their discography into Nemo (CH) and Nemo on digital streaming platforms. On September 9, 2022, Nemo released their first English EP, WHATEVER FEELS RIGHT.

In November 2023, Nemo publicly came out as non-binary. Shortly afterward, they released the single, “This Body.”

On Instagram, Nemo wrote:

I haven’t opened up about it publicly, but some of you already know: I don’t identify as a man or a woman.  I’m just Nemo. I love thinking of gender as a galaxy, picturing myself as a little star floating somewhere within. That’s where I feel most like myself.

In February 2024, Nemo was internally selected to represent Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest with their second 2024 single, “The Code.” They would later win the contest, becoming the first non-binary artist to win the Eurovision Song Contest, and marking Switzerland’s first victory since 1988.
