Talon the Rez Kid Wonder is an East Coast Mi’kmaq & Mohawk Hip-Hop Artist and Producer from Elsipogtog First Nation. Talon’s style has been described as RAW ENERGY, taking inspiration from artists such as Pharrell Williams, Lil B the BasedGod, Ski Mask the Slump God, André 3000 and MF Doom. One early morning during late August 2017, Talon recorded his first rap record, ROSE (A SUMMER TALE FREESTYLE) while in bed. He posted it later that day on his SoundCloud account “rezkidwonder”. While attending his first year of University that following September he would meet a fellow Mi’kmaq Hip-Hop Artist named Wolf Castle. They would soon become good friends and collaborate on their first track together, RANK (WHERE DA REZ GIRLS AT?). February 23rd 2018, Talon released his debut project, REZ FAMOUS – EP on his SoundCloud for free. Talon would make his Live Performance debut on May 3rd 2018 on the East Coast Music Award’s Hip-Hop Stage in Halifax, NS, alongside Wolf Castle who invited him to be apart of his set. This is where The Rez Kid Wonder evolved and honed his RAW ENERGY and he was likened to Mick Jagger by a particularly important audience member. Although his discography is minimal at the moment, common themes throughout his music relates to Indigenous Issues, Childhood Experiences, Blunt Emotions and Love. Rez Kid Wonder aspires to bring Indigenous Musicians to a whole new level and reach wider audiences with, intense, engaging and comedic subject matter.
